Another method that people find helpful is the "square" breathing method. Imagine with each action you are drawing a square in your mind. Inhale slowly for 4 seconds as you imagine drawing the first side of the square. Hold your breath for 4 seconds as you imagine drawing the second side of the square. Exhale slowly for 4 seconds as you imagine drawing the third side of the square. Hold your breath for 4 seconds as you imagine completing the square. Repeat this a second time of you feel it is needed. If 4 seconds doesn't feel right for you, adjust the time for your personal preference.
